PEDRO ITI WELCOME
Pedro Iti was a guy that we saw for the first time on video at IDEAIS launched in 2006 with a very nice part filmed in Campão by videomaker Leo Coutinho of great respect and that was a remarkable video at the time and was for history.
We have always closely followed Pedro Iti's projects and participation, both in videos and in events, and we have always noticed a difference in him, both in style and in the person he showed as a family man and skater.
Last year we talked for the first time via direct where he was looking for wider pants with a shorter fit than normal and bought the first, this first one he still wears today and looks very much like his second skin (laughs). After a few weeks we sent others for him to use and so it was, a natural connection.
This year we already had in mind some PRO and AMATEUR skaters who would join the brand and Iti was one of them, check out a brief interview with him about our partnership.
You started skateboarding in 1998 and in 2015 you became professional at @remaboardhouse, were you one of the only ones from Campão to become a professional skater? What right moment do you think a skateboarder should move to PRO and what plans does the kids need to follow to become a PRO?
That, the first flips were in 1998 but I immersed myself in the skateboard universe even in 2000, when I made the first session buddies and in 2015 I became professional with Rema and Diet at the time. The right time to move on to the pro is subjective, each skater has his or her walk but I think it is at the moment that the person has the opportunity and feels confident, then it is chasing after haha for those who are intent on being a professional skater it is important to wake up , understand that skateboarding goes beyond maneuvers and perpetuate the run, one hour comes.
We are fans of all the people who make skateboarding happen in their specific regions, who have the willpower and who move the scene in some way and we see you and @remaboardhouse for years in the fight trampando and doing the right skateboarding. Do you think that in Brazil there are still many skateshops that work in this direction?
It's do-it-yourself right, from a little kid building crates, ramps and cannons to walk, the skate shop follows the same principle, gratitude for being part of it all here in the areas. In Braza there are several skate shops that I identify with, that run for the local, global scene and that feed the Cultural skate scene, I don't feel that stores are missing but perhaps there is an organization between them to enhance this strength, it could be a good one.
What were your inspirations during all these years, who have you always looked up to or influenced during these more than 20 years of skateboarding and who has been inspired to this day?
My inspiration comes from the Brazilian skate, definitely, James Bambam, Carolino, Gordo, Pinguin, Tarobinha, Prophet, Hyena ... vishhh there are many guys from the magazines, the videos in the early 2000s, here in Campão there are also several skaters who inspired me ... nowadays I am inspired by everyone who loves skateboarding and especially the people who work for the collective, for the scene, not for themselves.
What is it like being a family man and being able to reconcile Skate with the family? Your son is already walking by what we have seen this is very cool, our children follow what we are says about it?
haha being a Father is life, you know, we learn on a daily basis. Reconciling skateboarding with my family is easy, my wife and my kid walk too, so any ride is already on the track or at some peak. Cauã shows me that educating is actually re-educating, because we re-educate ourselves to set an example for them, they absorb everything we do, so following the path is a consequence but I think we parents have to be attentive to help- them to find their aptitude and develop ... if it's skateboarding, it's great! haha
Skateboarding lives in a new phase, let's talk about the good ones, because the bad ones are already hard to know, a phase in which if you don't update you are out, We know that you work very well on social media and at the same time knows how to keep a good maneuver or good peak for a video part. This is rare these days when the internet and ease has taken over, that flurry of maneuver and toast on social media makes something difficult seem easy. That is why a part video is always welcome, whenever the work of producing has more value, what do you think about all of this?
Life is a constant transformation, right, always good to be aware. I feel that the human being is still in the process of dominating the internet and the flood of information that it provides, we are individual beings, where we need to listen to our voice from the inside to express it out, however the world does the opposite, they tell us bombard external information and repress the internal voice, which causes many diseases, unfortunately. When we are in tune with the internal voice, things become clearer and we are able to better express our feeling, I think this is very important, because it is through the feeling that we express that other people identify themselves, this is art.
Filming a part video is cool because it takes more time, involves more people, thickens the broth haha so surely it has more value ... but still, it has parts and parts, some seem like just a robot sending maneuver, others like that don't go out to skate. Skate is loko haha
What do you expect to change in the Skate market in 10 years for the better?
I expect maturity, understanding and respect, there is everything for everyone, we just need to respect ourselves and understand what we really want, to look at our neighbor as someone who comes to strengthen us, to run together, not as an enemy or someone who is fighting for a slice of a cake.
You have been skating for more than 20 years and you continue to walk like a 16 year old (laughs) perfect maneuvers, lots of technique and smooth adjustments, what you do to keep your soul and body light, has to do with food or some kind of physical preparation?
The body is also an art haha, for sure, food is essential, exercise and discipline. I see the body as a soil where a plant grows, for the plant to grow healthily we need to fertilize the soil with the necessary nutrients, the body is the soil where we cultivate our spirit, or Vital energy, so we need to treat it well so that this energy flows harmoniously ... thus reflecting on our lives.
What places have you been to and that you want to walk and have never been to? A remarkable trip with Skate? And say there 3 places that you dream of one day walking and getting to know?
IAPI, Praça XV and Valão, I miss you haha, a remarkable trip was when I went to Pro and we filmed av [ideo part Iti is now Pro, I went to RJ, GYN, BSB, SP, several cities, all by car haha, I and Marcelo, he was very crazy.
I want to know Salvador, the neighboring countries and Europe haha, it ends up not worldly!
What projects are you currently participating in and when do you intend to launch them?
The main project and taking care of the body, listening to it, understanding it and treating it, skateboarding hurts, hehe, we are filming for a full lenght of Rema and I also have an idea in my head there ... let's see what happens.
About the TUPODE brand, what did you notice differently and what most caught your attention to want to be part of it, and what do you hope to accomplish with us?
I identified a lot with Tupode's skateboarding essence, because we are from the same generation too, I greatly admire Cleverson's dedication and commitment to the brand, this makes me very motivated to grow and develop personally to always be with people who inspire me . Not to mention the material, right, all of great quality and very good taste ... now no one else is safe for us haha
